Frequently Asked Questions

DO YOU POUR CONCRETE?

We do not, we only apply stains and coatings once the concrete is laid. New concrete should be cured for 28 days before any applications are laid.

HOW DO YOU PREP CONCRETE FOR COATING OR STAIN?

We ask that the home or business owner remove all existing material from the surface, for example – patio furniture from a patio, stored items from a garage, etc. We will schedule an acid power wash prior to coating or staining the surface. This will open the pores and remove built up grime and debris. We will allow 24 hours for the concrete to dry before we coat or stain.

MY CONCRETE ALREADY HAS A COATING, CAN YOU PAINT OVER IT?

We recommend a prep service (grind off the existing layer of coating), which we can schedule into the new coating service. Due to the wide variety of products and reactions, we have found this to be the best option.

HOW SOON CAN YOU DO THE WORK?

MCC runs about two weeks out, we will do everything in our power to accommodate your schedule.

DO YOU WORK ON COMMERCIAL PROJECTS?

Yes! We have many commercial projects in our portfolio, including doctors’ offices, banks, retail stores, apartments, and more. Modern Concrete is fully insured and can accommodate your business needs.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A STANDARD EPOXY AND A “REFLECTOR” EPOXY?

Epoxies are durable high-grade coatings. They are perfect for a lab floor, a garage floor, a showcase floor, etc. They come in a variety of base colors and you can opt to have paint chips thrown in for effect. They are the standard go-to epoxy.

Reflector epoxies are the “new thing” in surfacing, they offer all of the durability of a standard epoxy, with an enhanced decorative element. These epoxies look dynamic, almost moving. They are high shine and come in a variety of colors. Check out our residential gallery for a few photo examples of both to compare.
